Urban Rec is taking on Run2Cure! 💙🏃
July 7, 2026 - 17 days ago
At Urban Rec, we've always believed we're #MoreThanSport.
Sure, we love bringing people together through social sport, but what really drives us is building a community that supports one another, steps outside its comfort zone, and gets behind causes that make a real difference.
That's why this August, we're swapping our jerseys for running shoes and taking on Run2Cure Brisbane.
Running for a Cause
On Sunday, August 16, Team Urban Rec will be participating in the 5km Run2Cure event at New Farm Park, raising funds for children affected by neuroblastoma, a rare and aggressive childhood cancer.
Every registration helps fund vital research that aims to improve treatments and ultimately find a cure for kids diagnosed with this devastating disease.
For us, this event is about much more than crossing a finish line. It's about coming together as a community and showing the power of sport to create positive change.
Don't Worry, You Don't Have to Be a Runner!
If you've been thinking, "I'd love to get involved, but I'm definitely not a runner," we've got good news.
This isn't about racing or chasing personal bests. It's not a marathon, and nobody's expecting Olympic performances!
The event is a 5km run, meaning you can move at whatever pace feels comfortable. Whether you jog the whole way, walk with friends, or take your time soaking up the atmosphere, you'll be part of something special.
The goal is simple: have fun, support an incredible cause, and enjoy the morning with an amazing group of people.
Bring Your Friends and Family
One of the best parts about this event is that you don't have to be an Urban Rec player to join Team Urban Rec.
We're inviting everyone to get involved: friends, family, partners, workmates, housemates and anyone else who wants to make a difference.
The more people we have on the team, the more awareness we can raise and the bigger impact we can make together.
Help Us Make an Even Bigger Impact
To celebrate the launch of Team Urban Rec in the event, we're matching donations for the first five people who register to join our team.
That means your support will go even further towards funding research into neuroblastoma and helping families impacted by childhood cancer.
It's our way of saying thank you for jumping on board and helping us make a difference.
Why We're Doing This
Urban Rec has always been about creating opportunities for people to connect.
Whether it's through volleyball, soccer, netball, multisport or any of our other leagues, we've seen first-hand how powerful community can be.
Run2Cure gives us the chance to take that community beyond the sporting field and use it to support something truly meaningful.
We're incredibly proud to be involved and hope this is just the beginning of many community fundraising events to come.
